The interactive map of the University Hospital
To help you prepare for your arrival, an interactive map offering a range of useful features is also available from the homepage of our website.
For people who are vulnerable and/or have a disability, the map can be used to identify accessible parking spaces and suitable pedestrian routes.
These routes do not include any stairs and are wide enough to use comfortably. On site, they are marked by a blue line painted on the ground. They are also suitable for people using a pushchair.
To access these features on the interactive map:
- Open the "Practical information" menu;
- Select the filters you need, for example: "Accessible parking space" and/or "Accessible route" to display the routes (blue line).
Car parks for patients attending appointments
Three free car parks, providing a total of 250 spaces, are reserved for patients attending an appointment and for authorised accompanying persons entering the University Hospital:
- P2 and P3 car parks are located in the central part of the University Hospital site, opposite the Hôtel Dieu Nord building;
- P4 car park is located near the Terre et Maine building.
Your appointment confirmation, in either paper or digital format (received by email or via the Connect' CHU Angers app), gives you free access to the car parks. Simply present the barcode* to the access reader at the car park entrance.

Parking
Parking facilities within the University Hospital are limited.
On weekdays, from 6 am to 5 pm, only people with reduced mobility or those with a bar-coded appointment confirmation (i.e. patients attending a consultation) are permitted to park their vehicles within the hospital grounds. Outside these times, anyone may drive their vehicle into the hospital grounds.
Public transport
The tram and several bus routes serve the University Hospital. Park-and-ride facilities allow you to park your car there for an unlimited period, enabling you to reach the University Hospital quickly.

Signage by neighbourhood
Historically, the University Hospital has been built in a clustered layout.
To facilitate the flow of traffic and help patients and visitors find their way around, whether travelling by car or on foot, the hospital campus is organised into zones.
It also features clear outdoor directional signage that is easy for everyone to understand: each zone is colour-coded, and buildings are identified by a combination of letters and numbers (e.g. the green zone, building B1 – Larrey 1).
Going to A&E
Adult Emergency Department
To access the Adult Emergency Department, vehicles transporting patients and patients travelling exclusively to the Emergency Department should enter via Avenue de l’Hôtel-Dieu. Very few parking spaces are available. Drivers are asked to move their vehicle once the patient has been admitted for care.
Patients can enter through the Hôtel-Dieu barrier using the intercom. Medical transport vehicles can also access the site via the automatic number plate recognition system.
Vehicle access is reserved for the patients concerned and for medical transport vehicles. It is not permitted for patients attending appointments in other departments, visitors, or professionals travelling to the University Hospital.
A car park is available outside the University Hospital site on Avenue de l’Hôtel-Dieu.
Gynaecology and Obstetrics Emergency Department
Access to the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Emergency Department is via the main entrance to the University Hospital, located very close to the department.
A small secure car park, controlled by a barrier, is available in front of the Maternity Emergency Department. It is strictly reserved for emergency situations and must not be used for scheduled appointments at the Maternity Unit. The barrier can be opened using the intercom.
The accompanying person is permitted to enter the University Hospital site by car on the day of the birth and on the day the mother is discharged. For visits between these two dates, they must park outside the University Hospital site during the day. After 5 pm, parking is permitted within the University Hospital site.
Paediatric Emergency Department
Access to the Paediatric Emergency Department is via the main entrance to the University Hospital.
A barrier controls access to the Paediatric Emergency Department area. Patients can open it using the intercom, while medical transport vehicles can enter via the automatic number plate recognition system.
A few parking spaces are available beyond the barrier. They are reserved exclusively for emergency situations and must not be used for scheduled appointments.
The small car park at the front of the building, opposite the main entrance, is reserved for ambulances, taxis and people with reduced mobility.
Work in progress
Throughout the year, the University Hospital is undergoing modernisation works designed to improve the care and reception of patients and service users. These works may also affect the streets adjacent to the University Hospital.
